I love your blog...what a lovely family you have, and what wonderful needlework!  I've cross stitched, but found hardanger so terribly scary.  LOL, I never did try it...I couldn't bear to think of putting a pair of scissors to my work, no matter how well-intentioned. 

Beaded cross stitch is always so beautiful, though quite time-consuming.  I have a half-finished beaded Marilyn Leavitt-Imblum angel that's been waiting for years to be finished, because it was taking too darned long and I lost patience.  One nice thing about beaded cross stitch, though...at least there's no changing thread color, just straight beading!  My first beaded cross stitch piece was a shock, because I forgot and cut the thread when changing bead colors, then realized...duh, that was dumb!

Cutting threads in Hardangar isn't so bad.  I think the idea of cutting through rows of knitting seems worse.  

My name is Marilyn and I live in Indiana, too, about an hour and half to the south of Indianapolis. I'm married with no children. A spoiled cat allows me live here. ...I say it that way because she was here first.  

I haven't done very much beading, I'm usually knitting something.  I've also done cross-stitching, but not lately. I guess I could say the same about crocheting.

alwaysalice here ........I am Alice Ann when back in my hometown...Alice everywhere else.....born and raised in the big city of Stephenville Texas.  My parents worked at a dress factory when I was born so was named after the label manufactured there.  In my 'cake' years I was married and followed him around from California, Utah and all over Texas then further onto Indonesia and Australia.....later settling back in Texas.....along the way I raise two wonderful young men......now in the "icing" part of my life I am married to a retired Army Man and now living next door to Ft Hood in Copperas Cove, Texas...he came complete with 3 adult children and a couple of DILs....along the way I have gathered 10 Grands....7 boys, 2 gals, and 1 Angel......now my oldest and wife are fostering Twins!! which they hope to adopt so that would make the count 13.... the Twins are one each boy and gal.....and the DIL is pregnant with another little boy...........OH......I almost forgot!!!......there are TWO Great Grand-daughters coming as well.....one within the month and the other early Spring of next year.......all this at 56.......I think I am tried... :-...

My passion as of late it knitting......well....look at all those babies!!.......I have knitted on and off since Jr High when a kind little lady offered to teach me and a few friends......my first project??? Long sleeved turtle neck cabled sweater.......well.......I didn't know any better..  But this just made me courageous when it comes to patterns ........I also sew......after being named after the label....it came natural. I remember playing under the cutting tables at the factory with scraps!!  I have done counted cross-stitch (was perfect when moving around so much earlier in life....a Great Aunt tried to teach me to tat....I made knots......have used a crochet hook a time or two.....painted......woodwork......well.......I have tired just about anything that came my way.

Am looking forward to trying out this new board........and making new friends along the way.....

Welcome!  Love your kitty...great pic!  LOL, cats usually are spoiled...but really, they can be forgiven their arrogance, because they're so incredibly cute!  (I love to ask the cat how she got to be so cute...she rarely answers, though.  When she does, it's either "Rowr" or "Rowr rowr.")



I tend to find many of these things are cyclical for me.  I have a flurry of activity...and then onto something else.  For a long time, it was cross stitch...then onto beading and back to knitting/crochet, which I hadn't touched for a long time.

So what have you been knitting lately?

LOL!  I can understand!  I hope your travel was the wonderful adventure it sounds like it was.    Such exotic places!



Terrific!  IMO, the nice thing is the ability to always experiment.  I do envy anyone who can sew!

Do you often change patterns to suit your taste?

LOL, those first trials don't tend to go terribly well, do they?  But they do teach one what to do.  My first pieces of anything were pretty disastrous, LOL, though a good learning tool.  Back when I learned to knit, people actually said I could just knit a swatch and then rip it out to reuse the yarn.  Nobody talked about blocking!  It didn't help that I was self-taught, from a book.  I don't recall the books back then saying the swatches had to be blocked.

No, I haven't gotten brave enough to try steeking yet.  But I also haven't found a pattern that requires it. Yet! I've done some colorwork in the past, but it was separate pieces. I took photos of the vest I made, but they are buried in my stuff where I used to live in KY.  If I ever get a chance to go on a "dig", I'll try to remember to look for them. 



I just finished some socks for 2 of my nieces. I'm working on a 'hood' thing for my other niece. I want to make a hat for a nice lady who's undergoing chemotherapy for breast cancer.  And I have a few things lined up to make as Christmas gifts for my sisters and my brother's girlfriend.  That ought to be enough to keep my out of trouble for a little while.

It would be wonderful to see them!  Re: steeking, I believe Meg Swansen has some patterns in her books which involve steeking.  At least one of her books does, anyway!  (Not sure which title...something with a dragon chart is in the book, if memory serves.)



LOL, I'm exhausted just reading about all of it!  Seriously, it's always so satisfying giving handmade gifts.

My name is Pam and I live in England. I have 3 sons and 8 grandchildren and also grandma to an adorable little dog, her name is Shadie





My interests are Sewing, Knitting and Beading and am equally passionate about all three. At the moment I am busy creating a new wardrobe for my holiday which starts May 23rd and lasts until the end of August.

Glad you like my Shadie.  I had a cat named Lucky, but lost her just before Christmas, she was almost 21. I miss her a lot, but when I've had my holiday I am going to have another one. Ideally I would like two little girls from the same litter.

Here is Lucky - taken just before she died.

Lucky sure was a beauty!  I'm sorry for your loss, though I'm glad she lived a good, long life.  From what I recall, 21 is pretty old for a cat!  Did you adopt her when she was a kitten?

Happy to hear you'll be getting another cat, perhaps two...they're so much fun.

I had Lucky from 6 weeks old. Can't wait for the new kitties, but they have to wait until I come home from Kentucky at the end of August.
