I haven't been to Oregon in years, but I remember how gorgeous it is...those beautiful trees!  What a lovely state you live in...jealous!

As for graphghans, if you've never made one before, my suggestion would be to start with a smaller one before jumping into a large project.  I know how hard it is to start small when you're really itching to do something on a grander scale, but only by starting small can you know what you'll be getting into with a larger project.  I always tell people it's like when I tried to bead crochet...I couldn't do it.  It was so uncomfortable having the beads on the thread and trying to work with them.  Once I changed to pony beads and yarn, it was a breeze!  I learned how it all works and how to hold the thread with the beads, and it wasn't difficult on the large scale beads, so I knew I was ready to crochet with much smaller beads.
