Hi from West Virginia

Hello, I'm 26 and I have spent the majority of my life in and out of crochet projects. Its one thing that I love that even when I take a 6 month long break from it, I'm still just as excited to start a new project and come back to it. I was wondering if I could get some advice about coloring. My friend has asked me to create a blanket for her daughter's softball team using their logo. I am happy to do that but the pattern is kind of black and white and the letters are surrounded by puffs of smoke. I didn't know if there was a way to get an idea of a color combination or fade to get that type of design to show up in crochet. I've made a few sports blankets but I have never tried to capture a smoke effect. I figured maybe try a gray that fades into a solid white. I also want to try to make this with velvet yarn, which could have a discoloration effect all by itself. Any and all advice is appreciated. Thank you for your time.

Cass,
Welcome!
Crochet is very welcoming! I've also taken breaks here and there and it was always like returning to an old friend.
I would say a gray-to-white is the perfect solution. Depending on the color of your lettering, you could go from a misty gray to a white; though if your lettering is light colored, you would want to go to a darker gray and perhaps a lighter one.

I'm a beading, knitting and crochet addict. If that means I'm admitting I have a problem, then I admit to nothing. Please refrain from helping me.
