Hi from Little Falls, NJ

I'm new here..well I joined a couple weeks ago..I'm very green when it comes to graphs in general. I actually uploaded a picture of my daughter and granddaughter so that I could "try" and make a throw pillow for my daughter's bed..Thought that if I copied the pattern/graph but on a needlepoint it would be the same but smaller (obviously)..I couldn't see the holes even with my glasses so I decided to crochet it and just make a BIG pillow..and if it was too big I would mount and frame it..
Well, I assumed that each row actually ends instead of turning..I've only done 7 rows and it looks nothing like the picture..so, I suppose I'm to turn after each row?..HELP!! I wanted to have this done by Christmas!!!
Look at that smile! (Photo guaranteed unretouched)

Welcome!
If I'm understanding, you're working the pattern by beginning and ending each row, going from right to left every time, cutting the yarn at each row end?
I don't know that I've ever made a graph that way...in theory, it would work, but the graphs are actually made so that you work continuously, right to left and left to right on alternating rows, without cutting the yarn at the end of each row.
Also, please make sure you're using a single crochet stitch. If you use a double crochet stitch, your stitches will be super huge vertically and very distorted.
Hope that helps!

I'm a beading, knitting and crochet addict. If that means I'm admitting I have a problem, then I admit to nothing. Please refrain from helping me.
