Hi, are you still actively updating/maintaining this software?

Hello,

I sent an email to request support a while ago, I forget the exact date but I think it was the beginning of Jan, maybe end of Dec, and I havent heard back.

I wish I'd kept a copy of the message, but it was sent via the online contact form, not as a dorect email. Would it be possible for someone to have a look for it please?

I paid for the premium version and I have questions, but I'm not sure if this product is right for me if there's no support available.

Totally get that this forum is quiet, but when I paid I thought it would still be active, albeit a bit slow, which is fine.

Could someone let me know what's happening please?

I really like the software, but need to be able to ask questions when I have them.

Thank you,

Nicky

Nicky,
Welcome! Smile
Yes, we certainly are actively updating and maintaining this site. I'm not sure where your email landed, so would you be able to discuss your questions here?
The forum is still active, but as you noted, it's slow. We answer questions as they appear and do our best. Smile

Hi, thank you for your reply.

It's a shame you can't find my email. I hope I can remember everything I said.

I'm making crochet graphgans and I created an image that was 250 pixels across because I want to create a pattern that is 250 stitches across and so I thought this meant I would have control of each pixel.

I used nine colours in the design and asked the pattern wizard to use nine colours also, but when it created the pattern, it didn't turn out the way I expected. I tried various combinations and options, but nothing worked the way I wanted it to.

To try and explain, my design has black outlines that are 1 or 2 pixels wide, but the wizard added more black pixels into the design which made the black outlines thicker than intended. It also caused there to be 'orphan' stitches (meaning one stitch of a certain colour on it's own, which I wanted to avoid and had carefully designed the image so that it didn't have any orphan pixels).

So I was wondering if there was a way to have more control over how the pixels become stitches? I don't mind spending a long time working in my graphics programmes if it means I can get the control I need.

I bought the premium version because I thought I could sell the patterns I create, but if I can't create them the way I want them to look the software is useless to me. I'm really hoping you can help me please.

The other two things I wanted to ask about are as follows;

1) would there ever be a possibility to change individual pixels/stitches within the wizard (I understand this may be a limitation of the software because it's not a graphics programme).

2) would you consider adding a new range of yarn shades? I predominantly use Stylecraft Special DK and having their shades available in the designer would be awesome.

Hope that explains my situation adequately.

Hi, Nicky.

First, let me respond to your first and second questions.

The current version of software does not support individual changing of pixels.  The next major version has this and is still in finalizing stages.

Since you're using limited colours, might I suggest you take your existing image, resize it to 250 pixels, and save it as a .gif image containing 9 colours.  The program will still adjust it vertically to keep the finished pattern proportional so it might need to widen lines here and there but it should be close if you use a .gif image.

I do have a way that you can specify an exact vertical row count if you want to but the stitched item would not be proportional.  However, in this case, the program should not add anything.  Let me know if you'd like to try this and I'll give you more information and a link to a test version.

Regarding a Stylecraft palette of colours, it would not be much work to add this to the program.  I would need to do a bit of research and get RGB numbers of each yarn colour.  We discussed it here and I'd be willing to add it if it would help.

Let me know the results if you can try a .gif image described above.

Hello,

I tried a .gif image and got a much better result, thank you. I will keep playing with it and see how I get on.

The new update sounds great, do you have a timescale for when it might be available please?

Not sure if this would help at all, but I used the image from this webpage to get the hex codes for the Stylecraft yarn.

Would be amazing if you could add them.

Thank you,

Nicky

Nicky,

Thanks for the information!

I don't have a time estimate yet but I'm back to working on it as there are many patiently waiting.

In regards to the DK Yarn color palette, I will definitely add it.  I hope to have the new palette in a few days but please be patient with me if it goes past that.

I'll let you know as soon as it is available.

Fantastic, thank you so much.

I look forward to trying the update. The gif file is much better, but it still isn't quite enough for what I want. I appreciate your offer of the option to state the number of rows, but it would look too distorted, but thank you.

Nicky,

Try the latest version of software.  I just added the Stylecraft Special DK palette and it seems to work fine.

Hopefully I didn't cause any other problems.

I'll let you know as I make progress on the new upcoming version.
