New user needing help please
June 6, 2018 at 3:12:21 PM

I don't see how to search through the Q&A so please forgive me if this has been previously asked. I found a few patterns on Pinterest that I would like to make for my son. They indicate created using stitchboard free pattern wizard but I am not finding them in the patterns listing here. I printed them from Pinterest but the patterns have colors that are so similar I can't tell which is supposed to be used. How do I either find the original patterns or convert the Pinterest images to a pattern using symbols?

Khark,
Welcome! Smile Excellent question!
I'm sorry to say we have no control over the patterns people create. Whether or not they share them on our own site, if they choose to make color patterns instead of symbol only or color and symbol patterns, too many times the colors can be much too close. We would prefer it if patterns were created with something other than full colors unless they contain only unique colors, but it's out of our control, especially if they choose to post those patterns for download somewhere.
Unfortunately, unless you have an original image, the freePatternWizard can't take an already-made pattern and convert it back to an original image, in order to change it to symbols.
As for original patterns, technically, they're not original patterns. They're original images from which people have chosen to make patterns, which is why I mentioned original images above. What they do to make a pattern *is* the original pattern, even if it's full color with 25 shades of blue. Frown
We can (and do) make recommendations on how to get readable patterns, but we don't force people to follow our recommendations.
I wish I had a better answer for you. Normally, I'd say to contact the designer. Unfortunately, so much circulates on Pinterest, it can be next to impossible to track down a designer, who is the person who really should be creating readable patterns in the first place.

Oh man! Okay, well I'll just have to figure something out on my own with it. Thank you so much for the reply Melanie!

Khark,
You're so welcome! I'm so sorry we don't have a better answer...it's very discouraging when people create beautiful patterns and there's no way of using them. Cry
