Downloading
November 14, 2019 at 4:45:50 PM
I am new. And I need some help. I am trying to make a blanket of my son's dog's face. I am doing in grey scale (black and white) I have 6 colors. Using Red Heart Yarn. Max width? I am croucheting it.
1. how do you download and save to my downloads?
2. What are the best items to check on creating it to get the best results?
3. How do you match up the yarn numbers given with the one's at the store? Will they be the same?
4. Is there any tutorial I can watch to explain it all?
5. Figure the max width this will be approx 50" and 70" long
6. Am I using a single crouchet stitch?
Thank You
JMT

Janet,
Welcome!
To answer your questions, first, make sure your choice in #7 is set to "download pattern." At this time there isn't a way to save your pattern to anywhere but your own computer.
As for creating your pattern, the best thing to do is make sure your number of pixels across = the number of stitches you desire, so if you want, for example, 50 stitches across, your original image should be 50 pixels across. At this time, you can't manually set the freePatternWizard for the number of rows, so this is why you can't designate the same number for rows; the freePatternWizard currently figures that number for you based on the length of your image.
The yarn numbers are the manufacturer numbers, but your store may or may not stock those particular colors. With Red Heart, I've found that not all colors are readily available in a given store and you may need to go to the manufacturer to get specific colors.
We don't have a tutorial at the moment, but will be offering them in the future.
As for width and length, that's a complex issue. What you need to do to figure width (as mentioned previously, the length can't be designated at this time) is to make a gauge swatch using your chosen hook size and yarn. From your gauge swatch you'll be able to tell how many stitches across you'll need per inch; you can multiply that number x 50 and that will tell you how many stitches across. (As a side note, though it's extremely important, almost nobody likes swatching!
)
If you've chosen "standard" in #3, you'll be using a single crochet stitch.

Thank you for the help. I saved it to my computer and printed out the pattern.
