v2.12.3 Added new Grayscale image enhancement option
May 25, 2014 at 11:36:32 PM
I just added a new option called "Grayscale" in the section 8 special effects area.
Greatly simplifying things, the major difference between the "Shades of Gray" option in section 5 and this new "Grayscale" option is that the "Shades of Gray" option in section 5 takes the current uploaded image, processes all your selected options keeping the image in color, and then when preparing your pattern, chooses only black, white, and shades of gray colors (bead, floss, or yarn colors). (i.e. a red might become a dark shade of gray).
When using the "Grayscale" option in section 8, the system first internally converts your uploaded image to black, white and shades of gray, then processes all your selected options. Because the image is now only shades of gray, the final pattern will only come out as shades of gray, even if you have it set on "Use entire palette".
There is a subtle difference that is somewhat more evident when using an image that's pretty much all shades of gray. The best thing I suggest is if your original image is mostly black, white and shades of gray, try the new "Grayscale" option. I found the final pattern to be better defined.
Use it like the other options in section 8... just check the box next to "Grayscale" to turn it on.
