Illusion knitting questions.

I found lovely this illusion knitting feature, i have some questions.
1. What stitch do you use for to knit an illusion knitting pattern?
2. May i make and illusion pattern with crochet?, in tihs case, what stitch do you suggest?
Thank you
Monica

Monica,
Illusion knitting is a way of making certain stitches stand out more than others, so that when the work is viewed from above, it will only look like stripes. But view it from the side, and the design pops out!
I've heard of it done in crochet, but the only way I know offhand in crochet is to use the back loops. I'm not entirely sure how it's done, as I've never done it. (LOL, which means I need to learn!) I've also heard of this being done in Tunisian, but I have no information on that at this time.
I'd suggest trying a very small test piece to figure out if you really want to do the illusion crochet. You may find it's a technique you don't like. But if you start small, you can then work up to larger patterns.

I'm a beading, knitting and crochet addict. If that means I'm admitting I have a problem, then I admit to nothing. Please refrain from helping me.
